Edwin Velez wurde am 4 Juni 1959 in New York geboren und wuchs dort auf. Er besuchte die Highschool für Kunst und Disign und studiere später in Hollywood die Schauspielerei. Ausserdem diente er einige Jahre der US Army. Später heiratete er, aus dessen erster Ehe Tochter Eliza stammt, die Ehe jedoch wurde geschieden und eh heiratete erneut, diesmal Carrie Grace.
